Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital (GOUNITH), formerly Ntasi Obi Hospital, is a premier university teaching hospital standing at the vibrant intersection of research, education, and patient care. We are currently seeking a meticulous and professional Lab Assistant to join our dynamic Laboratories department and contribute to our mission of medical excellence and compassionate patient service.
Key Responsibilities- Assist medical laboratory scientists in the collection, processing, and preparation of biological specimens for diagnostic testing.
- Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and organization of laboratory workspaces, equipment, and instruments.
- Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables, reporting shortages promptly.
- Accurately record and input laboratory data into hospital information management systems while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and infection control guidelines within the laboratory environment.
- Collaborate effectively with pathologists, medical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to support seamless patient care operations.
- Possess a Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution or College of Health Technology.
- Valid practicing license and active registration with the relevant professional regulatory body in Nigeria.
- Demonstrated relevant post-qualification experience working in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.
- Strong ICT compliance skills with proficiency in electronic health records and laboratory software.
- High level of professional integrity, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.
