About the Role
West Side Beach Resort & Hotel, located in the serene and vibrant area of Ajah, Lagos, is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our growing hospitality team. Known for delivering exceptional guest experiences, our resort provides a peaceful environment for leisure and business. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our culinary operations, ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly, maintains the highest standards of hygiene, and delivers quality meals to our guests.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure all food preparation areas, kitchen tools, and floors are thoroughly cleaned and maintained to strict hygiene standards.
- Wash, sanitize, and store utensils, dishes, and kitchen equipment appropriately.
- Sort, store, and organize food ingredients in refrigerators, freezers, and pantries following health and safety guidelines.
- Assist chefs with washing, peeling, chopping, cutting, and cooking foodstuffs, as well as preparing salads and desserts.
- Dispose of kitchen waste and rubbish responsibly and regularly throughout shifts.
- Organize and manage kitchen and dining linen laundry efficiently.
- Support the kitchen brigade with any additional tasks required during peak operational hours.
- Minimum of a SSCE or relevant professional certification in catering or hospitality.
- Proven experience working in a kitchen or food service environment within the hospitality industry is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work in a fast-paced environment, and lift heavy items.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Must reside in or around Ajah, Lagos, or be willing to commute reliably.
