About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc (formerly Lafarge Africa Plc), a leading Sub-Saharan African building solutions company and member of the LafargeHolcim group, is recruiting a Kiln Coach. This role is pivotal in guaranteeing efficiency and optimization of the burning line while developing Control Room Operators to mastery competency levels in VRM and kiln operations. You will drive plant performance improvements through daily monitoring, analysis, and strategic coaching.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and optimize burning line efficiency through analysis of process parameters and performance data
- Lead incident analysis and review processes with Control Room Operators to prevent future occurrences
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with best practices and control strategies
- Conduct comprehensive training programs including one-on-one coaching, group training, and on-the-job training delivery
- Assess clinker and raw mix quality control data to identify process deviations and optimization opportunities
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems (ISO 14001 & 9001)
- Participate in plant performance meetings and contribute to reliability improvement initiatives
- Support production planning, maintenance scheduling, and budget preparation
- Monitor production KPIs, cost per ton, and energy consumption metrics
- Conduct accident investigations and near-miss reporting with the accident investigation committee
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Minimum 4 years proven experience in cement manufacturing industry
- Deep understanding of kiln operations, raw mill, and clinkerization processes
- Strong Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent coaching, training delivery, and communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE standards and environmental regulations
- Proficiency in documentation and governance discipline
