About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital dedicated to delivering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and advanced medical care across the African continent. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking a dedicated Junior Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our dynamic team and drive clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the initial assessment, stabilization, and resuscitation of critically ill or injured patients presenting with undifferentiated conditions.
- Perform independent, life-saving emergency procedures including intubation, central line insertion, chest tube thoracostomy, and POCUS.
- Provide direct clinical supervision, bedside teaching, and mentorship to Medical Officers, nursing staff, and junior medical personnel.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, reduce waiting times, and manage emergency department operations.
- Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and protocol development.
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency.
- 1 to 4 years of post-fellowship experience in a fast-paced emergency department environment.
- Possession of valid board certification or equivalent in Emergency Medicine.
- Current and active certifications in ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced emergency procedures and proficiency with electronic health record systems.
