About the Role
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations, creating international opportunities and building trust worldwide. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced IT Manager to provide visible, collaborative management of our IT function within our main offices in Nigeria, specifically focusing on Lagos and Kano. In this vital role, you will be accountable for the day-to-day delivery of IT services, ensuring technical support aligns seamlessly with Global Information Systems (GIS) and security standards while meeting our dynamic business operational needs.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and maintain fit-for-purpose IT infrastructure in the Lagos and Kano offices, ensuring robust risk management and business continuity contingencies.
- Manage the local IT support team, driving performance management, professional development, and effective task delegation.
- Act as the primary liaison with the Global Service Desk (GSD) and Service Now (SNOW) to ensure incident resolution and service requests adhere to strict SLAs.
- Enforce British Council IT policies, security standards, software licensing compliance, and proper equipment disposal procedures.
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget in alignment with corporate finance, procurement, and risk management standards.
- Proficiency in English to at least B2 level across all four core language skills.
- Professional certification such as MCP Windows 2016.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working as an IT professional or in a similar technical orientation role.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure management, IT security standards, and helpdesk ticketing systems.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management, budgeting, and leading small technical teams.
