About the Role

Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, a market leader in the manufacturing and distribution of premium paints and coatings, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Internal Control Officer to join our dynamic team in Lagos. In this role, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding company assets, minimizing risks, and ensuring strict adherence to operational and financial controls across our manufacturing plant and distribution network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform periodic and surprise inventory checks on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure accuracy and proper safeguarding.
  • Monitor inventory movements within the Tally system, verifying that all receipts, transfers, and dispatches are authorized and documented.
  • Conduct control checks on raw material receipts, ensuring they align with purchase orders and have passed Quality Assurance testing before production.
  • Assist the Internal Control Manager in reviewing operational processes, identifying control gaps, and testing internal controls.
  • Investigate inventory variances, damages, losses, and unusual material consumption, preparing comprehensive reports for management.
  • Escalate significant control failures, suspected fraud, or irregularities through appropriate reporting channels and follow up on corrective action plans.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of proven experience in internal audit, inventory control, or risk management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, inventory management systems (such as Tally), and supply chain processes.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
