About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP), a leading indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, is seeking a skilled Instrument and Control Technician. In this vital offshore role, you will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our production facilities by maintaining and troubleshooting critical control and safety systems.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and calibrate pressure, flow, level, and temperature instruments, analyzers, and control valves.
- Troubleshoot PLC, ESD, F&G, and process-control system faults to restore operational availability.
- Carry out loop checks, functional tests, commissioning, and cause-and-effect verification.
- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance according to approved maintenance schedules.
- Inspect and maintain hazardous-area instrumentation in compliance with applicable Ex requirements.
- Support maintenance of control panels, transmitters, actuators, and associated field devices.
- Participate in reliability-centered maintenance, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Electrical, and Mechanical teams during integrated tasks.
- Comply strictly with PTW, isolation, LOTO, toolbox talks, and offshore HSE standards.
- HND or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronics, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8-12 years of relevant instrumentation and control maintenance experience in the oil and gas sector, preferably within offshore production facilities.
- CompEx, ISA, City & Guilds, or equivalent recognized competency certifications will be an added advantage.
- Strong expertise in hazardous-area Ex systems, PLC/ESD/F&G troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
