About the Role
The Nigerian Navy invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Imam Assistant to support the spiritual and moral well-being of personnel. In alignment with our mission to maintain a disciplined and highly motivated naval force, this role plays a vital part in fostering religious harmony and ethical development within our formations across the country.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the unit Imam in conducting daily prayers, Friday sermons, and special religious ceremonies.
- Provide religious guidance, counseling, and mentorship to naval personnel and their families.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the mosque and its surrounding facilities.
- Keep accurate records of religious activities, inventory, and attendance at services.
- Liaise with recognized Islamic organizations and coordinate community outreach programs.
- Perform other spiritual and administrative duties as assigned by the command.
- Must possess the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent with at least 5 credits, including English Language, Arabic, and Islamic Religious Knowledge.
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience serving as an Imam or Mosque Assistant.
- Must provide letters of recommendation from two recognized Islamic clerics or Islamic organizations acceptable to the Nigerian Navy.
- Must be a Nigerian citizen of good character and sound health.
