About the Role

Action Against Hunger | ACF Nigeria LTD/GTE is a global humanitarian organization dedicated to ending world hunger and improving community access to safe water. We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Hygiene Assistant to join our team in Nguru, Yobe State, starting October 2026. In this vital role, you will support the implementation of emergency hygiene promotion activities, community mobilization, and the distribution of non-food items to vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct rapid needs assessments, home visits, and household censuses to identify water, sanitation, and hygiene gaps within target communities and health facilities.
  • Develop engaging training materials and tools, such as role-play and songs, to promote safe hygiene practices among diverse audiences.
  • Facilitate emergency hygiene awareness sessions and mobilize community members to adopt critical practices like handwashing and environmental cleanliness.
  • Organize focus group discussions with women and girls to determine optimal locations for new WASH facility construction.
  • Assist in the transparent selection, registration, and distribution of shelter, hygiene, and NFI kits to eligible beneficiaries.
  • Maintain high technical standards and submit accurate weekly activity reports detailing project progress.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a National Diploma in Public Health or a related health field.
  • Prior experience in hygiene promotion, community mobilization, or humanitarian assistance is a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to remain motivated, flexible, and culturally sensitive in remote environments.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Hausa is mandatory.
  • Willingness and physical ability to travel regularly and reside in remote areas with limited services.
