About the Role
The St. Bridget's Schools, an esteemed educational institution in Aba, Abia State with a proud legacy since 1987, is seeking a passionate and qualified Home Economics Teacher for our Junior Secondary School section. In this role, you will play a vital part in equipping students with essential practical life skills, culinary knowledge, and home management techniques while maintaining our high standards of academic and moral excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver interactive, engaging Home Economics lessons aligned with the approved Nigerian curriculum.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, instructional materials, practical demonstration guides, and assessments.
- Manage the classroom effectively to ensure a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment for all students.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records of academic performance and practical coursework.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and hands-on participation during practical sessions.
- Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and school management regarding student development.
- Participate actively in school events, co-curricular activities, staff meetings, and professional development programs.
- Minimum of an NCE, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics, Education, or a related field.
- Previous teaching experience at the Junior Secondary School level is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Home Economics curriculum, food and nutrition, home management, and textiles.
- Excellent classroom management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and modern teaching methodologies.
- TRCN registration and experience preparing students for BECE are strong added advantages.
