About the Role
UNICEF operates in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. In Nigeria, our country programme aims to accelerate the realization of the rights of all children and women to survival, development, and protection. We are currently seeking a dedicated Health Specialist to join our dynamic team and drive impactful public health initiatives nationwide.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development, planning, and operationalization of routine immunization and new vaccine introduction programmes.
- Manage, monitor, evaluate, and report on health programme progress using results-based management approaches.
- Provide technical and operational support for routine and supplementary immunization implementations, disease interventions, and outbreak responses.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships and networks with government bodies, development partners, and health stakeholders.
- Drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building initiatives across national and local levels.
- Advanced University Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Pediatric Health, Global Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or a related health science.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public health planning, routine immunization, maternal health, or health emergency management at national and international levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in vaccine-preventable disease interventions, outbreak response planning, and implementation monitoring.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to collaborate effectively with government officials and international stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of a local language or another official UN language is an asset.
