About the Role
Ports and Terminal Operators Nigeria Limited (PTOL) is a leading multi-purpose terminal operating within Port Harcourt, Nigeria. We specialize in handling containerized, bulk, and general cargo while providing top-tier warehousing and trucking facilities. We are currently seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to support workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across our bustling terminal operations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough daily safety inspections and risk assessments across terminal operations to identify potential workplace hazards.
- Implement and monitor Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) protocols.
- Lead comprehensive incident investigations, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian HSE regulations, maritime safety standards, and company-specific policies.
- Facilitate regular safety toolbox talks, training sessions, and fire drills for terminal staff and contractors.
- Maintain accurate safety records, incident logs, and compliance documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably within maritime, port operations, logistics, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, JSA, HIRA, and emergency response planning.
- Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH, HSE Level 3, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead safety initiatives effectively.
