About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitizing Africa's real economy by building a comprehensive financial ecosystem for businesses. We are seeking an experienced Head, Product Control & Accounting to sit between Finance and the Product & Technology platform team. In this strategic role, you will ensure that every new product, feature, or pricing change is correctly designed from an accounting and control standpoint before it goes live, owning the critical thread from customer journey to financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the standing technical accounting partner to Product and Engineering for all new products, features, and pricing changes.
- Write technical accounting memos and position papers addressing revenue recognition under IFRS 15 and financial instrument classification under IFRS 9.
- Design, build, and maintain a consistent chart of accounts across entities for new and existing products.
- Map each stage of the customer journey from onboarding and transactions to settlement and write-offs to the correct general ledger treatment.
- Review product specifications pre-launch to identify and resolve accounting and control gaps early.
- Own the reconciliation between product transaction system data and the general ledger, resolving breaks at the source.
- Design robust internal controls such as maker-checker processes and exception handling to audit standards.
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification with 8+ years of post-qualification experience, including Big 4 technical accounting or audit background.
- Demonstrated expertise in IFRS 15, IFRS 9, and broader IFRS standards.
- Proven ability to translate system designs into accounting treatments and general ledger structures.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers and product managers.
- Prior experience in fintech, banking, or payments is strongly preferred.
