About the Role
The Dangote Group is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head, Power Plant to lead our captive power generation and energy management functions in Nigeria. In this strategic leadership role, you will ensure a 100 percent reliable, cost-effective, and efficient power supply to support large-scale cement production while driving operational excellence, sustainability, and strict compliance with global safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee operations of Captive Power Plants and Waste Heat Recovery systems to guarantee uninterrupted power supply to all kiln lines and grinding units.
- Lead comprehensive preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance programs for boilers, turbines, generators, and balance of plant systems.
- Optimize specific power consumption, heat rates, and thermal efficiency while implementing plant-wide energy conservation initiatives.
- Manage power generation costs, optimize fuel mix, and drive continuous cost-per-kWh reduction strategies aligned with corporate benchmarks.
- Champion the Zero Harm safety culture, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements and company HSE policies.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous professional development.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with COREN registration or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 15 to 20 years of robust experience in power generation or cement manufacturing, including 5 to 8 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive technical expertise in thermal power plant operations, Waste Heat Recovery technology, and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies.
