About the Role
VINCI Construction is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Mechanical to join our client, a major international Oil and Gas operator, for a strategic Deepwater operations assignment in Nigeria. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee the technical integrity, reliability, and performance of essential mechanical assets, including rotating, static, lifting, and marine equipment across two high-capacity FPSO facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of mechanical maintenance strategies and plans.
- Act as the Technical Administrator for mechanical spare parts and materials, ensuring optimized stock management.
- Provide expert technical support for troubleshooting, performance degradation investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate major maintenance campaigns, shutdowns, overhauls, and vendor interventions.
- Manage maintenance data, work orders, and asset histories within SAP-based maintenance systems.
- Supervise contractors, service providers, and vendors while ensuring strict adherence to HSE standards.
- Mentor and develop maintenance engineers and technicians, occasionally stepping in as Maintenance Operations Manager.
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience within the Oil and Gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory, lead, or management position supporting offshore production or FPSO assets.
- Extensive technical expertise in gas turbines, compressors, diesel engines, pumps, and rotating machinery.
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems, specifically SAP.
- Strong understanding of asset integrity, reliability centered maintenance, and contractor management.
- Competitive contract duration of 12 months with potential for renewal.
- Flexible work arrangements including standard 5-day work pattern or 12/4 rotation.
