About the Role

SPIE Oil & Gas Services is a global leader in technical expertise for the oil and gas industry, dedicated to addressing complex human, technological, and environmental challenges across upstream and downstream operations. We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Mechanical Engineering to lead our mechanical maintenance and reliability operations in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will oversee technical services for assets managing significant production levels, including the Akpo and Egina fields, coordinating a dedicated team of company and contractor personnel.

Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will direct all mechanical maintenance methods, reliability improvements, and technical support functions. Your primary duties will include:

  • Managing the technical content of maintenance methods, plans, spare parts coverage, and procedures in alignment with company maintenance policies.
  • Overseeing contractor-prepared maintenance plans and ensuring flawless implementation and consolidation via the Methods Department.
  • Serving as the Technical Administrator for mechanical spare parts, optimizing stock levels for maximum equipment reliability and cost efficiency.
  • Ensuring accurate data capture within SAP (UNISUP), performing rigorous data analysis, and proposing operational optimization plans.
  • Providing expert technical troubleshooting for equipment failures, performance losses, and conducting mechanical modification studies.
  • Ensuring all offshore and onshore mechanical operations strictly comply with company rules, specifications, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
  • Managing external resources, including vendors and contractors, by defining scopes of work, monitoring performance, and approving project deliverables.
Qualifications

To qualify for this prestigious role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and professional background:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent accredited engineering discipline.
  • Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of rotating and turbo-machineries, gas turbines, compressors, diesel engines, static equipment, and pumps.
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall experience as a mechanical engineer, with at least 5 years specifically gained within the petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a supervisory or operational leadership position.
  • Strong administrative, reporting, and technical resource coordination skills.
