About the Role

Egbin Power Plc, located in Lagos, Nigeria, is the largest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, dedicated to meeting the rising electricity demands of Nigeria. We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Head of Internal Audit to lead our internal audit function, providing independent assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive risk-based annual internal audit plan and establish the internal audit charter.
  • Evaluate risk exposures relating to the organization's governance, operations, and information systems, including fraud risk.
  • Communicate audit results, strategic implications, and control improvement recommendations to the Audit Committee, Board, and senior management.
  • Ensure adherence to the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), ethical codes, and regulatory frameworks including the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
  • Monitor and support the implementation of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001).
  • Develop safeguards to maintain auditor independence and promote an ethical culture throughout the organization.
  • Establish key performance indicators to measure internal audit progress and service delivery effectiveness.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications are required.
  • Mandatory relevant professional certification such as CIA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CFA.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience in internal audit, risk management, or financial control, preferably within a heavy industry or large-scale operational environment.
  • Exceptional understanding of IIA standards, data protection laws, and corporate governance best practices.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
