About the Role

As humanitarian needs grow in scale and complexity, we have established the Rapid Response and Readiness Unit to drive organisational preparedness and lead high-profile emergency responses. This is a rare, high-impact leadership opportunity to manage globally deployable humanitarian professionals, influence global sector practice, and ensure vulnerable children receive life-saving support during crises.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Plan International's global readiness, preparedness, and emergency response capability for rapid crisis intervention.
- Coordinate and oversee large-scale humanitarian responses during Orange 2 and Red Alert emergencies.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a global team of deployable humanitarian professionals and technical specialists.
- Mobilise and coordinate surge capacity, including deployments from the global emergency roster.
- Ensure humanitarian programmes align with recognised international standards, including CHS and Sphere.
- Drive continuous improvement in emergency systems, policies, and organisational learning.
- Build strategic partnerships with donors, UN agencies, governments, and external stakeholders.
- Represent Plan International in senior-level humanitarian forums to strengthen advocacy and sector profile.
- Significant senior-level experience leading humanitarian preparedness and emergency responses in complex international contexts.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale emergency operations and deploying teams in disaster and conflict settings.
- Strong leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams.
- Deep understanding of humanitarian standards, principles, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, donors, and humanitarian partners.
