About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building a comprehensive financial ecosystem for businesses. Our POS Hardware and Device Platforms team owns the software behind the physical side of our business, tracking and managing millions of terminals in the field. We are looking for a visionary Head of Engineering to oversee this critical software estate, lead our technical strategy, and scale our global device operations in a remote, distributed environment.
Key Responsibilities- Own the technical strategy and architecture for inventory, logistics, and repair management software systems.
- Lead and scale an engineering organisation of 25+ members, including managers, QA, SRE, and Data Engineering.
- Drive platformisation of supply chain systems to ensure operational data is visible, trustworthy, and consistent across millions of terminals.
- Define architecture standards, engineering processes, and quality metrics across squads to guarantee reliability and data integrity.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex operational requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineering leaders and senior developers to support rapid organisational growth.
- 10 to 15 years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading engineering teams through major growth phases.
- 5+ years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code as a practising engineer.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing engineering managers within a distributed environment.
- Deep hands-on expertise in supply chain, inventory, warehouse, or logistics software at massive scale.
- Strong backend engineering skills for data-intensive, distributed, and operational systems within fintech or regulated industries.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and product-minded problem-solving abilities.
- Lead engineering for one of Africa's largest POS networks and directly influence our international expansion.
