About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building an all-in-one financial ecosystem for businesses. Our Field Verification platform is the backbone of our KYC operations, verifying individuals, businesses, addresses, and loan guarantors across the continent. We are looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to step in as the inaugural dedicated engineering leader for this critical domain, moving the team from maintenance mode to strategic product delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Own the end-to-end technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Field Verification platform.
- Lead and scale the cross-functional engineering team, establishing robust development standards and quality metrics.
- Drive operational efficiency through advanced trip and route optimisation, task allocation, and capacity management.
- Oversee client-facing APIs, webhooks, and the internal back-office system used across onboarding, loans, compliance, and fraud.
- Deliver a high-performance native mobile application for field officers.
- Architect scalable solutions to support Moniepoint's rapid multi-country expansion across Africa.
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience with strong backend depth, particularly in Java and Spring Boot.
- At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including managing Engineering Managers.
- Proven background as a hands-on builder who transitioned into technical leadership.
- Strong cross-disciplinary expertise spanning backend systems, web applications, and mobile platforms.
- Demonstrated experience building scalable platforms, handling geospatial/location data, or optimising logistics and routes is a strong plus.
- Exceptional collaboration skills with product and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
- Directly impact a core platform through which every Moniepoint customer is onboarded.
