About the Role
Huko Advisory Services, a leading human capital development and value-based company headquartered in Lagos, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Credit. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the ideal candidate will lead our client's credit operations, ensuring strict compliance with CBN regulations, credit policies, and risk appetite while driving sustainable loan portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive credit strategies, policies, and risk parameters aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee credit appraisal, financial statement analysis, and approval processes for high-value and complex lending proposals.
- Monitor loan portfolio performance, actively managing Portfolio at Risk (PAR), Non-Performing Loans (NPL), provisioning, and recovery strategies.
- Provide strategic oversight across microfinance, retail, consumer, SME, and commercial lending segments.
- Chair or participate in the Management Credit Committee and manage regulatory and internal audit requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the credit team to foster a robust culture of credit discipline and integrity.
- Bachelor Degree or HND in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, or a related discipline; an MBA or Master degree is an added advantage.
- 8 to 10 years of relevant banking and financial services experience, with at least 5 years specifically in Credit, Risk Management, or Lending.
- Mandatory professional experience spanning both Microfinance and Commercial banking environments.
- Minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership role such as Head of Credit or Senior Credit Risk Manager.
- Must have participated in at least 2 CBN audits and possess strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Professional certifications such as ACIB, CIBN Microfinance Certification, ICAN, ACCA, CFA, or FRM are highly preferred.
