About the Role
GIG Logistics is a premier courier and logistics services company headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, with service centres spanning Nigeria, Ghana, and the United States. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Brokerage and International Operations to provide strategic leadership for our customs brokerage operations. In this critical role, you will ensure seamless import and export clearance, maintain strict regulatory compliance, drive operational excellence, and champion customer satisfaction across our expanding network.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all customs brokerage operations, ensuring timely and compliant clearance of import and export shipments.
- Develop and implement innovative brokerage strategies to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and profitability.
- Ensure absolute compliance with Nigeria Customs Service regulations and other applicable trade, port, and government agency requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, shipping lines, terminal operators, and key logistics partners.
- Oversee customs documentation, tariff classification, valuation, duty assessment, and comprehensive trade compliance.
- Monitor operational KPIs, cargo clearance timelines, and customer service performance to implement continuous improvements.
- Identify and mitigate compliance, operational, and commercial risks associated with international brokerage activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Freight Forwarding, Operations, Finance, and Customer Experience teams.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Brokerage team to drive engagement and professional growth.
- Prepare high-level management reports, operational analyses, and strategic recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Law, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, International Trade, or Logistics.
- At least 4 years of proven leadership experience managing customs clearance operations and engaging regulatory authorities.
- Deep expertise in customs regulations, import and export procedures, tariff classification, valuation, and trade compliance.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Relevant professional certifications in Customs Administration, Freight Forwarding, or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
