About the Role
Unified Payment Services Limited (UP®) is Nigeria’s premier Payments & Financial Technology company founded in 1997 by a consortium of leading Nigerian banks. Operating as a shared infrastructure for the banking community and a leading payment service provider, we are looking for a dynamic Head, Merchant Services to drive the vision, strategy, operations, and growth of our merchant acquiring and servicing business across retail, SME, and enterprise segments.
Key Responsibilities- Define and execute short- and long-term department strategies to drive merchant acquisition, activation, and revenue growth.
- Build and lead a high-performing Merchant Services team spanning sales, account management, support, and field operations.
- Collaborate with product and engineering units to tailor innovative payment solutions including POS, online payments, QR, and SoftPOS.
- Develop strategic partnerships with key players across retail, hospitality, e-commerce, and logistics sectors.
- Foster a positive, inclusive work culture focused on continuous training, employee engagement, and performance management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in fintech, banking, or payments.
- At least 3 years in a senior or departmental leadership role managing cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record in expanding merchant bases, scaling operations, and driving digital acquisition tools.
