About the Role
Unified Payment Services Limited (UP®), Nigeria's premier financial technology company founded in 1997, is looking for a visionary and results-driven Head, Merchant Services to lead our merchant acquiring and servicing business. In this executive leadership role, you will spearhead our strategy to optimize merchant experiences across retail, SME, and enterprise segments, cementing our position as a leading payment service provider in Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Define and execute short- and long-term department strategies to drive merchant acquisition, activation, and revenue growth.
- Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in retail, hospitality, e-commerce, and logistics sectors.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance payment solutions including POS, online payments, QR, and SoftPOS.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing Merchant Services team spanning sales, account management, and field operations.
- Foster a diverse, innovative, and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity and professional growth.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in fintech, banking, or the payments industry.
- At least 3 years in a senior or departmental leadership role managing large cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record in driving merchant acquisition, scaling operations, and developing strategic partnerships.
