About the Role
Unified Payment Services Limited is Nigeria's premier Payments & Financial Technology company founded in 1997. We operate as a shared infrastructure for the banking community, driving innovation and service excellence across the African financial landscape. We are currently looking for a strategic and results-driven Head, Domestic Switching & Terminal Operations to oversee our core transaction processing systems and terminal networks.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Head of Domestic Switching & Terminal Operations, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence and regulatory compliance across our payment channels. Your daily duties will include:
- Overseeing end-to-end domestic transaction switching, routing, and authorization across POS, Web, Mobile, ATM, and QR channels.
- Supervising POS terminal lifecycle management, deployment, firmware updates, and vendor coordination to ensure maximum uptime.
- Managing daily settlement, reconciliation, chargeback processing, and dispute resolution with partner banks and financial institutions.
- Ensuring strict adherence to CBN, NIBSS, and card scheme standards while maintaining robust risk and fraud mitigation controls.
- Collaborating with IT and engineering teams to enhance switching architecture, system monitoring dashboards, and API integrations.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing operations team to foster a culture of agility and continuous improvement.
- Engaging key stakeholders including partner banks, card schemes, and merchants to resolve operational escalations promptly.
To qualify for this exciting leadership opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- First Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in payment operations, electronic banking, or transaction switching.
- At least 3 years in a senior leadership role within a fintech, Payment Service Provider (PSP), or commercial banking environment.
- Deep understanding of CBN regulations, NIBSS standards, and card scheme operations (Verve, Visa, Mastercard).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills with a proven track record of reducing transaction failures.
