About the Role
Unified Payment Services Limited (UP®), Nigeria's premier Payments & Financial Technology company founded in 1997, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head, Domestic Switching & Terminal Operations. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee end-to-end domestic transaction switching, routing, settlement, and POS terminal lifecycle management, ensuring optimal system reliability and exceptional service delivery across our shared infrastructure platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Manage end-to-end domestic transaction switching, routing, and real-time uptime optimization across multiple channels including POS, Web, Mobile, and ATM.
- Supervise POS and terminal lifecycle management, deployment, firmware updates, and vendor coordination to maximize merchant satisfaction and field efficiency.
- Oversee daily transaction settlements, error-free reconciliations, and efficient chargeback and dispute management in line with regulatory timelines.
- Ensure strict adherence to CBN, NIBSS, PTSP/PTSA standards, and implement robust operational controls to mitigate fraud and security risks.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to drive switching architecture enhancements, API integrations, and data-driven process automation.
- Lead, mentor, and build capacity within the Switching and Terminal Operations team to foster a culture of agility and high performance.
- Engage proactively with partner banks, card schemes (Verve, Visa, Mastercard), and key stakeholders to resolve operational escalations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related discipline (Master's degree or MBA is an advantage).
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in payment operations, electronic banking, or transaction switching, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within a fintech or Payment Service Provider (PSP).
- Deep expertise in CBN and NIBSS regulatory frameworks, PTSP/PTSA compliance, and card scheme standards.
- Proven track record of managing high transaction volumes, minimizing switching downtime, and executing accurate financial reconciliations.
