About the Role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking driven and analytical Graduate Interns to join our dynamic Finance Directorate. As a leading nonprofit research organization dedicated to reducing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty in Africa, IITA offers a vibrant corporate environment where young professionals can build a solid foundation for their finance and accounting careers. This internship provides practical exposure to institutional financial management under the direct supervision of experienced Finance Managers and Officers at our vibrant Ibadan headquarters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for general financial transactions and accounting processes.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of periodic financial reports.
  • Participate in fixed assets tracking, verification, and inventory management exercises.
  • Support banking operations, cash flow monitoring, and treasury reconciliation tasks.
  • Assist finance teams with grants, donor-funded project tracking, and financial compliance.
  • Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and digital finance tools to streamline record-keeping.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance Directorate as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, or related disciplines.
  • Must possess a valid NYSC completion certificate and be not more than one year post-NYSC.
  • Partial professional qualifications such as ATSWA, ICAN (Foundation/Skills Level), ACCA (Applied Skills), CIMA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Exceptional numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
