About the Role

Akintola Williams Deloitte is seeking a strategic and experienced General Manager, Operations to direct our client's downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria. In this critical senior leadership role, you will oversee end-to-end supply chain activities, including petroleum product supply, marine discharge, terminal storage, and inland distribution to ensure commercial success and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct integrated downstream operations, aligning supply chains, vessel receipts, tank availability, and inland distribution with commercial trading goals.
  • Oversee marine terminal operations (SPM, CBM, and jetty), optimizing vessel turnaround times, safety protocols, and stakeholder coordination with NPA and NMDPRA.
  • Manage terminal and depot efficiency, upholding strict standards for inventory management, product quality assurance, and asset integrity.
  • Enforce rigorous Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and risk management frameworks across all facilities and transit routes.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a multidisciplinary team of operational heads, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Develop and manage annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets, leveraging ERP insights and logistics dashboards to drive cost efficiency and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's or MBA is highly advantageous.
  • Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 7 years serving in a senior operational leadership capacity.
  • In-depth expertise in downstream petroleum operations, encompassing tank farms, marine logistics, SPM/CBM, and fleet management.
  • Proven track record of successful engagement with Nigerian regulatory bodies such as NMDPRA, NIMASA, NPA, and SON.
  • Exceptional leadership, crisis management, and strategic stakeholder negotiation competencies.
