About the Role
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener 1 to join our facilities team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and cleanliness of our landscaped areas, walkways, and building entrances.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive groundskeeping, including mowing lawns with hand and power mowers, edging walks, and trimming around walls and flower beds.
- Maintain the original landscape plan by planting, pruning, and shaping perennials, shrubs, and trees for optimal health and beauty.
- Apply fertilizers and safely spray lawns and plants for disease, weed, and insect control in compliance with local regulations.
- Operate and properly maintain power equipment, machinery, and heavy tractors as required for extensive landscape upkeep.
- Water garden areas, manage seasonal floral displays, and provide helpful guidance to volunteers assisting with grounds maintenance.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance with strong plant and fertilizer knowledge.
- Minimum of a Senior High School (SHS) certificate or equivalent educational qualification.
- Proficiency in operating light and heavy machinery, coupled with confidence as a tech-savvy computer user familiar with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent physical fitness, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform demanding outdoor tasks.
- Strong fluency in English with effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Must be worthy of a Temple Recommend.
