About the Role
COOPI Cooperazione International is seeking a dynamic and experienced Forestry & Natural Resource Management Officer to lead the implementation of vital ecosystem restoration and climate resilience activities in Nigeria. This critical role focuses on reforestation, watershed management, land reclamation, and agroforestry, directly contributing to sustainable livelihoods and peacebuilding in conflict-affected communities. You will work closely with local stakeholders and government ministries to foster sustainable environmental practices and community empowerment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead community-based reforestation and afforestation initiatives across target LGAs, overseeing the planting and monitoring of 200,000 trees.
- Facilitate land reclamation, nursery development, and the promotion of carbon sequestration practices.
- Deliver comprehensive training on sustainable land management, agroforestry, and climate-smart agriculture.
- Collaborate with Ministries of Environment, Agriculture, and Land to institutionalize NRM practices and support local committees.
- Track project indicators, contribute to MEAL processes, and document lessons learned for internal and donor reporting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in ecosystem restoration, agroforestry, or watershed management.
- Demonstrated expertise in community mobilization, capacity building, and conflict-sensitive programming.
- Familiarity with carbon financing, climate-smart agriculture, and donor-funded projects (such as FCDO).
- Strong facilitation, coordination, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to social inclusion.
