About the Role

St. Columbanus Secondary School (SCOSSI) is a prominent co-educational Catholic mission boarding school located in Ikwen, Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Founded in 1959 and operating under the Catholic Diocese of Ikot Ekpene, we are widely recognized for combining rigorous academic training with deep moral, spiritual, and character formation. We are currently seeking a dedicated and creative Fine Arts Teacher to join our esteemed faculty and inspire students through visual arts education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned Fine Arts lessons to secondary school students.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans that foster creativity, critical thinking, and technical art skills.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to encourage artistic growth.
  • Manage the art studio environment, ensuring safety and proper maintenance of all art supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare students for internal and external exhibitions, competitions, and examinations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate arts and cultural activities into the broader school curriculum.
  • Uphold the moral, spiritual, and ethical standards of our Catholic mission school environment.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must possess, at minimum, a First Degree (BA, B.Sc, or HND) in Fine Arts or a closely related subject area.
  • An education qualification (B.Ed or PGDE) and a higher degree (Master's or PhD) will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Applicants must have obtained a First Class or, at minimum, a Second Class Upper division in their degree examinations.
  • Relevant teaching experience is an advantage; however, enthusiastic first-time applicants are also welcome to apply.
  • Applicants must possess and demonstrate exceptional teaching ability, consistent with best educational practices.
  • Candidates who were previously interviewed but not appointed need not repeat the process; they may simply resubmit their application indicating prior screening.
