About the Role

COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale is seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Inclusion Officer to join our team in Nigeria. In this role, you will lead the establishment, strengthening, and operationalization of Community Agricultural Finance Institutions (CAFIs) across target communities in Bade LGA under the Agri-Food System Transformation and Innovation (AFTI) project. You will support approximately 1,500 farmers, youth, women, and rural entrepreneurs to improve access to savings, responsible credit, financial literacy, digital financial services, and productive finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the establishment and strengthening of Community Agricultural Finance Institutions (CAFIs) in Bade, ensuring 40% women and youth representation in inclusive governance structures.
  • Facilitate comprehensive training on savings, budgeting, financial literacy, responsible borrowing, loan management, repayment, and investment.
  • Link CAFI members with microfinance banks, commercial banks, fintechs, and other financial service providers to promote mobile money and digital payments.
  • Monitor savings, loans, repayment performance, and the productive use of funds while maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Contribute to project monitoring, reporting, and the documentation of success stories while ensuring compliance with COOPI safeguarding and anti-fraud policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in financial inclusion, microfinance, VSLA/CAFI development, or community-based financial services.
  • Proven experience supporting digital financial records, mobile payments, or financial management platforms within development programmes.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa, and/or relevant local languages spoken in Bade, is essential for effective community engagement.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, coaching, and mentoring skills.
