About the Role

MIM Finance Company Limited (Money in Minutes or MIM) is a UK-originated FinTech start-up launching innovative financial products in Nigeria to solve access-to-finance challenges. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to provide senior leadership and hands-on ownership of our finance function, driving our mission to deliver instant finance, white goods, and solar energy solutions to consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the finance function and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial information provided to executive management.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow reports.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and timely submission of CBN regulatory and prudential returns.
  • Oversee treasury, liquidity, and funding requirements to support sustainable lending operations and asset acquisition.
  • Maintain robust internal financial controls, approval workflows, reconciliations, and strict adherence to accounting policies.
  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight of the lending portfolio, covering loan receivables, impairment provisioning, and product profitability.
  • Lead annual external audits, tax compliance, and statutory finance requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Credit, and Operations teams to drive strategic business decisions.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance team to foster a culture of high performance and accountability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Must possess a recognized professional accounting qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience in finance and accounting.
  • At least 5 years of experience at a senior management level within a CBN-regulated financial institution or fintech.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CBN regulatory reporting, IFRS standards, budgeting, and treasury oversight.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and modern financial reporting software.
