About the Role
Baker Hughes, a premier energy technology company operating in over 90 countries, is looking for a dedicated Finance Specialist - Controllership to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this impactful role, you will champion technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate financial reporting across the West Africa region.
Key Responsibilities- Manage general accounting, policy application, and process administration across all cycles including inventory, revenue recognition, receivables, payables, and intercompany for West Africa.
- Interpret and apply Enterprise Standards, SOPs, and Process Maps to deliver globally competitive financial and accounting services.
- Drive overall ownership and accountability for regional controllership initiatives and key metrics.
- Ensure strict compliance of all finance activities with local statutory regulations, US GAAP, and Baker Hughes internal policies.
- Collaborate with corporate functions and finance teams to implement new accounting standards and remediate any SOX or internal control deficiencies.
- Lead medium-sized projects and contribute significantly to major regional financial initiatives, ensuring timely execution and impactful results.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Business.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory position.
- Demonstrated expertise in a Finance Controllership role with deep knowledge of US GAAP and local statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in enterprise resource planning software such as SAP and Oracle.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships.
