The Big Smile Foundation is a leading humanitarian actor in Nigeria dedicated to empowering women and girls to be self-reliant, ending violence, and fighting poverty. We are currently seeking a dynamic and committed professional to join our team in Maiduguri and Yobe, Borno State, with frequent travel to project implementation LGAs. Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of safeguarding and accountability strategies across project locations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational safeguarding policies, donor standards, and national protection guidelines.
- Conduct safeguarding risk assessments and develop actionable mitigation measures.
- Train project staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders on safeguarding principles, PSEA, and gender sensitivity.
- Establish and manage confidential complaint and response mechanisms within project communities.
- Coordinate survivor-centered referrals for health, psychosocial, legal, and protection services.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding records and prepare periodic reports for management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Gender Studies, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in safeguarding, child protection, GBV prevention, or protection programming.
- Demonstrated experience working within the humanitarian sector under donor-funded projects.
- Strong knowledge of PSEA protocols, child protection frameworks, and inclusion principles.
- Fluency in English, with proficiency in Kanuri or Hausa being a strong advantage.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
