About the Role
The El-Kanemi Memorial Foundation (EMF) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our dynamic team in Maiduguri, Borno State. Founded in 2016, our independent, non-profit humanitarian organization is committed to helping vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, recover from the impacts of conflict in Northeast Nigeria under our guiding motto, Impacting Lives through the Healing Power of Culture. In this vital role, you will ensure the integrity of our financial operations, manage budgeting processes, and support transparent resource allocation for our humanitarian programs.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including bookkeeping, disbursement, and accurate record-keeping in compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and project budgets.
- Reconcile bank statements, manage cash flow, and ensure timely settlement of financial obligations.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and financial records.
- Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets and flag any financial discrepancies or variances proactively.
- Ensure adherence to statutory financial obligations and tax regulations in Nigeria.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent understanding of donor financial compliance and reporting standards.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural team.
