About the Role
Child Protection and Women Empowerment Initiative (CPWEI) is a dynamic women-led organization dedicated to empowering women and youth while building safer communities across Northeast Nigeria. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance & Compliance Coordinator to join our growing head office team in Damaturu, Yobe State. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the financial integrity, transparency, and accountability of our life-changing humanitarian and development programs.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate day-to-day financial operations and robust compliance systems across all active project locations.
- Monitor project budgets, track operational expenditures, and prepare accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Maintain meticulous financial records, process transactions, and reconcile bank accounts regularly.
- Ensure strict adherence to organizational policies, statutory requirements, and complex donor regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate seamless internal, external, and donor-specific financial audits.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Finance and Procurement/Logistics staff to foster high performance.
- Support the programs team with proposal budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive donor financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of proven professional experience in a similar finance or compliance role within an NGO or humanitarian organization.
- Proficiency in financial management software such as QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft 365 applications.
- Familiarity with major donor compliance frameworks and regulations, including UN agencies, USAID, EU, and FCDO, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, internal controls, risk management, and statutory tax deductions in Nigeria.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English; proficiency in Hausa or other local languages spoken in Northeast Nigeria is an advantage.
