About the Role
Iconic Open University is a fully licensed private open and distance learning institution regulated by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Nigeria. We are currently inviting applications from suitably qualified academics from accredited universities to serve as External Examiners for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Public Administration. As a leading ODL institution, we are deeply committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality, integrity, and excellence, and our external examiners play a pivotal role in this quality assurance process.
Key Responsibilities- Review and moderate examination questions and scripts to ensure academic rigor and alignment with curriculum standards.
- Assess undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, theses, and project reports independently.
- Evaluate course materials, syllabi, and assessment methods for ODL delivery.
- Submit comprehensive annual reports to the University Senate regarding academic standards and student performance.
- Participate in virtual moderation meetings and quality assurance reviews as required.
- Must not be below the academic rank of Senior Lecturer; Readers and Professors are strongly preferred, particularly for postgraduate supervision.
- Must possess a minimum of a Ph.D. degree in Public Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated expertise with a strong publication record in reputable, peer-reviewed journals over the past three years.
- Prior experience as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions and a proven track record of postgraduate supervision.
- Familiarity with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) environments and virtual examination platforms is highly advantageous.
- Must be entirely independent of Iconic Open University with no conflicts of interest, current employment, or recent institutional ties.
