About the Role
Iconic Open University, a leading NUC-licensed private open and distance learning institution in Nigeria, invites applications from suitably qualified academics to serve as External Examiners for our undergraduate and postgraduate International Relations and Diplomacy programmes. External examiners play a vital, independent role in ensuring our curriculum, assessment methods, and grading standards align with global best practices in tertiary education.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and moderate examination questions, scripts, and project reports to ensure academic rigor and fairness.
- Review curriculum structures and course materials for undergraduate and postgraduate International Relations and Diplomacy programmes.
- Assess the quality of postgraduate research supervision and grading standards.
- Submit comprehensive annual reports to the University Senate detailing observations, recommendations, and quality assurance feedback.
- Participate in virtual quality assurance meetings and due diligence interactions as required by the institution.
- Must hold a minimum of a Ph.D. degree in International Relations, Diplomacy, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Must currently hold an academic rank of Senior Lecturer, Reader, or Professor.
- Demonstrated track record of postgraduate supervision and recent research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Prior experience as an external examiner in recognized tertiary institutions is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) environments and virtual e-assessment platforms.
- Must be entirely independent of Iconic Open University with no conflicts of interest, such as recent employment or close personal relationships with current staff or students.
