About the Role
Iconic Open University, a fully licensed private open and distance learning institution by the National Universities Commission (NUC), invites applications from distinguished academics to serve as External Examiners for our undergraduate and postgraduate educational management programmes. Key Responsibilities- Review and moderate examination question papers, marking schemes, and scripts to ensure academic rigor and fairness.
- Evaluate course curricula, teaching materials, and assessment methods within the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) framework.
- Examine undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, theses, and practical projects.
- Submit comprehensive annual reports to the University Senate detailing academic standards, student performance, and recommendations for improvement.
- Participate in virtual quality assurance reviews and academic board interactions as required.
- Must hold a minimum of a Ph.D. degree in Educational Management or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Must currently hold an academic rank not below Senior Lecturer; Readers and Professors are strongly preferred, particularly for postgraduate supervision.
- Demonstrated expertise with a robust track record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals over the last three years.
- Prior experience as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) environments and virtual e-assessment platforms.
- Must be entirely independent of Iconic Open University with no conflicts of interest, such as recent employment or close personal relationships with current staff and students.
