About the Role
Albarka Healthspring Foundation (AHSF) is a dynamic non-governmental organization committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations across Northeast Nigeria. Operating in both emergency and developmental contexts, we bridge critical community gaps through resource-based planning and inclusive implementation. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as the Expert III - Community Engagement Officer (Internal) to drive our grassroots outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Team Lead in executing seamless community entry processes, including comprehensive stakeholder mapping and introductory meetings with traditional, religious, and community leaders.
- Establish, cultivate, and maintain strong working relationships with vital community structures and groups, such as Women/Ward Support and Development Committees (WSDC).
- Mobilise community members and project participants effectively for diverse programme activities, including sensitization sessions, capacity-building trainings, Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM), surveys, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
- Ensure the inclusive participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other highly vulnerable groups in all project cycles.
- Promote core organizational accountability, transparency, and safeguarding principles across every community engagement.
- Provide critical ground-level support for baseline assessments, routine surveys, and ongoing monitoring activities.
- Collaborate closely with the communication specialist to design and develop culturally appropriate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
- Coordinate seamlessly with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer to accurately track community-level indicators and project outcomes.
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in community engagement, mobilization, social development, or programme implementation.
- Proven background working directly with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees, vulnerable populations, host communities, traditional leaders, and government stakeholders.
- Extensive knowledge of participatory community engagement, sensitization, stakeholder consultations, feedback mechanisms, and social protection programming.
- Previous working experience in Borno State or the broader Northeast Nigeria region is a distinct advantage.
- Required fluency in English and Hausa, with proficiency in Kanuri serving as an added advantage.
