About the Role
Homeland Integrated Offshore Services Limited is a leading indigenous multidisciplinary organization delivering comprehensive Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation services to the Nigerian oil and gas sector. We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist III to provide expert technical guidance and safety oversight during complex offshore field operations. In this critical role, you will act as the primary environmental expert for our business line, ensuring compliance with rigorous Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental standards while mentoring junior personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert guidance and advice on Technical, Operational, and Safety, Security, Health and Environmental (SSH&E) aspects during offshore environmental data collection.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, sample preservation, processing, interpretation, and reporting of environmental samples and data.
- Act as a Marine Mammal Observer (MMO) or Protected Species Observer (PSO) to monitor for marine life during seismic operations.
- Serve as the primary environmental subject matter expert and business line technical authority.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and leadership to lower-level environmental personnel.
- Ensure all field activities strictly adhere to project agreements, vendor guidelines, vessel protocols, and national safety regulations.
- Significant professional experience in a closely related environmental or offshore role, with prior ExxonMobil experience considered a strong advantage.
- Exceptional technical proficiency in monitoring data acquisition, instrumentation, equipment, and positioning.
- Thorough knowledge of SSH&E practices and expertise in sampling water columns and sediments for environmental and geochemical purposes.
- Formal training in observing and identifying marine mammals in compliance with current JNCC guidelines or relevant regional standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with high integrity and interpersonal accountability.
- Full proficiency in modern communication technologies and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good physical fitness with valid offshore medical certifications and safety documentation that remain current throughout the project duration.
