About the Role
Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital (GOUNITH), formerly Ntasi Obi Hospital, is a premier institution dedicated to medical excellence, education, and compassionate patient care. We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Health Officer / Technologist to join our Environmental Health, Sanitation and Works department. In this vital role, you will maintain rigorous sanitation standards, promote public health, and ensure a safe, hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors within our multidisciplinary healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and enforce hospital-wide environmental sanitation, waste management, and infection control protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections of hospital facilities, wards, cafeterias, and waste disposal units to ensure compliance with health standards.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to mitigate environmental health hazards and risks.
- Implement proper hazardous and medical waste segregation, treatment, and disposal procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of environmental health audits, sanitation reports, and regulatory compliance documents.
- Educate hospital staff and patients on best hygiene practices and environmental safety measures.
- B.Sc or HND in Environmental Health Science with a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification cognate experience.
- Possession of the West African Health Examination Board Certificate.
- Current practicing license from the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON).
- Valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Proven ICT compliance and familiarity with digital record-keeping systems.
