About the Role
FairMoney is a leading digital financial platform in Nigeria that provides instant loans and financial services through our Android app. We are looking for a hands-on and visionary Engineering Manager to lead our RCL engineering team in building and scaling reliable technology solutions for our lending and credit products. In this role, you will combine exceptional technical expertise with empathetic people leadership, collaborating closely with Product, Data, and Risk teams to translate ambitious business goals into resilient technical architectures.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers while fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
- Own the technical direction, architecture, and end-to-end delivery of systems supporting our lending and credit products.
- Write clean, scalable code and lead by example, designing new backend services and distributed systems primarily using Golang.
- Partner with Product, Risk, and Data stakeholders to define technical solutions, set delivery priorities, and manage technical debt.
- Establish rigorous engineering standards around code quality, CI/CD, testing, observability, and system reliability.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development coaching for engineering team members.
- Drive recruitment efforts to scale the engineering team with top-tier technical talent.
- Over 7 years of software engineering experience, with significant backend development expertise in Golang.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering management or technical leadership role.
- Strong hands-on coding capability with a willingness to design and build systems alongside your team.
- Proven background in designing and scaling distributed systems, microservices, and high-volume transactional applications.
- Experience working within fintech, lending, payments, or related financial services domains.
- Solid understanding of relational database design, query optimization, and asynchronous event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with AI-native development practices and modern cloud infrastructure.
