About the Role
FairMoney is a leading digital financial platform in Nigeria, empowering millions of users with instant loans and banking services through our mobile app. We are looking for an Engineering Manager (Identity) to lead a talented engineering squad responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining robust identity, authentication, and KYC solutions. In this role, you will combine exceptional people leadership with hands-on technical expertise, collaborating closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance teams to deliver secure and compliant financial products across our markets.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering squad while fostering a strong culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical leadership for identity, authentication, KYC, and related backend distributed systems.
- Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions.
- Drive architecture, code quality, testing standards, security, and CI/CD best practices using GitHub Actions and AWS.
- Manage team performance, hiring, and career development while aligning with organizational goals.
- Monitor system performance and reliability, ensuring seamless experiences across our Ruby on Rails and Go backends.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
- 2+ years of experience managing, mentoring, and leading software engineering teams.
- Solid hands-on experience designing and operating scalable distributed production systems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, security principles, and system reliability.
