About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Electronics Technician III to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. As a leading nonprofit research-for-development organization, we work to enhance food security, reduce poverty, and improve livelihoods across Africa. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining our technical infrastructure, ensuring that our laboratories, conference facilities, and renewable energy systems operate at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine housekeeping and maintenance of the workshop to keep tools and equipment in proper working order.
- Prepare, install, and maintain solar panel systems to support sustainable energy initiatives.
- Assist in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of basic laboratory and electronic equipment.
- Set up, operate, and coordinate sound systems and audio-visual equipment at the conference center and various seminar locations.
- Receive inquiries, manage logistics for seminars, and maintain accurate daily logs of all completed work.
- Adhere strictly to workshop and electrical safety practices while executing assigned duties.
- Perform any other related tasks and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
- Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electronics, Trade Test 1 in Electronics Works, or a closely related field.
- At least two (2) years of relevant hands-on work experience in electronics, electrical installation, or equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated practical knowledge of solar PV installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Strong proficiency in using electronic test instruments, hand tools, and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
- Good fault-finding, problem-solving, and diagnostic capabilities with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills with a strong customer-service orientation.
