About the Role
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Education Officer to coordinate and implement formal and non-formal education activities in target LGAs across Adamawa State. In this crucial role, you will champion inclusive, protective learning environments, facilitate comprehensive teacher training, and ensure strict alignment with Education in Emergencies standards and the Safe School Declaration.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning and execution of formal and non-formal education activities in line with EiE standards.
- Coordinate teacher training programs focusing on pedagogy, inclusive education, child protection, and psychosocial support.
- Support the establishment and capacity building of School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) and School Development Plans.
- Collaborate with MEAL and WASH teams to conduct routine school assessments, enrollment campaigns, and data collection.
- Promote safeguarding, PSEA standards, and Safe School Declaration compliance across all supported learning spaces.
- Represent JRS at local coordination meetings with the State Ministry of Education, LGEAs, and humanitarian partners.
- Manage project documentation, means of verification, and contribute timely progress reports to the Project Director.
- University degree or equivalent in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field; a PGD in Education is a distinct advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience implementing education programs in conflict-affected or humanitarian settings.
- Solid knowledge of Education in Emergencies (EiE) principles, Safe School Declaration, and the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP).
- Proven expertise in teacher training, child safeguarding frameworks, and community mobilization.
- Excellent interpersonal, coordination, facilitation, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Fluency in English and relevant local languages spoken in Adamawa State.
