About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a professional, safety-conscious Driver to join our team in Ebonyi. In this role, you will play a vital part in our mission to enhance food security and reduce poverty in Africa by providing reliable transportation for staff, consultants, and project materials.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and timely transportation for project staff, consultants, partners, and visitors in support of field activities.
- Transport project materials, equipment, and supplies securely to various field locations.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and maintained in accordance with IITA policies and manufacturer standards.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, maintenance logs, and trip documentation.
- Observe all traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices across all routes, including rural areas.
- Support logistical arrangements for workshops, stakeholder meetings, and field visits.
- Assist with loading and unloading project materials as required.
- Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate; additional training in vehicle maintenance is an added advantage.
- A valid driver's licence appropriate to the vehicle class and a clean driving record.
- At least 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, international organization, or reputable corporate firm.
- Good knowledge of roads and routes within Ebonyi State and surrounding districts.
- Strong interpersonal skills, high integrity, and a courteous, professional manner.
- Physical fitness and willingness to travel frequently to remote project locations.
