About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dedicated and professional Driver to join our team in Adamawa. As a leading research-for-development organization committed to reducing hunger and poverty in Africa, we rely on efficient logistics to support our agricultural initiatives and field operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and timely transportation for project staff, consultants, partners, and visitors in support of field activities.
- Transport project materials, equipment, and supplies securely to various project locations and rural destinations.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and maintained in accordance with IITA policies and manufacturer recommendations.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, maintenance records, and trip documentation.
- Observe all traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices at all times.
- Assist with loading and unloading project materials and support logistical arrangements for workshops and field visits.
- Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate; additional training in vehicle maintenance is an advantage.
- A valid driver’s licence appropriate to the vehicle class and a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, government agency, or corporate organization.
- Good knowledge of roads and routes within Adamawa State and surrounding rural areas.
- Strong commitment to road safety, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
