About the Role
Slum2School Africa is a leading volunteer-driven developmental organization founded in 2012, dedicated to transforming society by empowering disadvantaged children to realize their full potential. We address severe shortcomings in Africa's educational sector by providing scholarships, creating innovative learning spaces, and offering vital psychosocial support to vulnerable children in slums and indigent communities. We are currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Driver to join our dynamic logistics and operations team in Nigeria, playing a crucial role in ensuring our staff, volunteers, and educational resources reach the communities that need them most.
Key Responsibilities- Safely transport staff, volunteers, educational materials, and equipment to various project sites, partner schools, and community outreaches.
- Ensure routine maintenance and servicing of the organization vehicles, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and brake systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks for all trips, fuel purchases, mileage, and maintenance records.
- Adhere strictly to Nigerian traffic laws, safety regulations, and organization driving policies at all times.
- Promptly report any mechanical faults, accidents, or near-misses to the designated supervisor.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee optimal roadworthiness and cleanliness.
- Assist with loading and offloading of educational supplies, donations, and equipment as required.
- Perform minor routine repairs and handle administrative errands such as vehicle licensing and insurance renewals.
- Minimum of SSCE or equivalent educational qualification with a valid and current Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or relevant category).
- At least 3 to 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with NGOs, corporate organizations, or reputable transport companies.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian road networks, traffic laws, and routes within the operating state.
- Good defensive driving skills with a clean driving record and no history of major traffic infractions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, high integrity, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical repairs.
- Good verbal communication skills in English and relevant local languages.
